DRIVER

My name is Billy Frazer. I am 16 years old, from Pukekohe and a Year 12 boarding student at King's College. My passion is motorsport and my goal is to become a professional race car driver.

I started racing karts when I was nine and have been fortunate to represent New Zealand racing karts in Italy and the USA. This has given me the experience of being a member of professional race teams operating under pressure in international competition. I have already learned so much about the opportunities I have had so far, but I want more.  I am an enthusiastic and committed driver who will compete this season in the New Zealand Formula Ford National Championship.

After competing successfully in karts I moved to an open-wheel car class, in my first full season competing in the Formula First Championship I finished 5th. I was awarded the most improved driver and best-presented car. This class has started the career of most of New Zealand's professional race car drivers and provides close, exciting racing for drivers and spectators. In the 2018/19 NZ Formula First Championship I finished 3rd overall, over that season I gained knowledge and experience that I look forward to taking into the future.

I always commit 100% and never give up even when the going gets tough.  I have attained my black belt in karate.  This was the outcome of many years commitment and hard work and showed me that if you commit to something, stick with it and give it all your effort the results follow. This attitude is what I bring to my racing. I understand that having great foundations and key skills are essential and adding these to a car that performs will result in wins. I want to keep progressing and moving forward in my career until I am racing and winning at the top level.  My next goal after Formula Ford is to compete in the Toyota Racing Series.

I am a King's College boarder.  Boarding has meant I have developed to be independent, organised and focussed, able to work successfully in a group of often very diverse personalities.  My school has been extremely supportive of my driving and my academic results continue to be excellent.

To ensure I maintain peak fitness, which is essential for success on the track, I am a member of my school's senior cycling team and the King's College advanced sports programme.
